Police Officer Convicted

Following the continuing story of the Misery City Police Department’s abuses of power a shocking development has arisen.

After an amazingly short, smooth, and relatively drama free trial, the accused rapist, Officer Maximilian Cromwell was convicted Monday morning of gross criminal sexual conduct in the first degree by a jury of his peers.

Officer Cromwell, a Supernatural witch, a fact which was revealed at the trial to the surprise of many, is the one of the first of the new supernatural beings to face a serious criminal charge in the U.S. This trial was a first for Myserie City, and District 2, both setting precedents for having a Supernatural on trial, and implementing the use of alternate protections against supernatural interference.

A spokesman for District 2, Press Secretary Harold Coggins, spoke at a press conference yesterday after the trial, confirming the use of several methods to prevent any magical tampering or other supernatural interference from being used during the trial and that Officer Cromwell would be being detained at a special facility designed to confine Supernatural beings of various types. Mr. Coggins refused to disclose what those protections are and how effective they actually proved to be in this case and whether they will be used again in the future in so called “normal” cases. He also refused to name the facility where Officer Cromwell will be being held and if it is a local or federal facility.

The Myserie City Police Department, and especially District 2, have come under harsh scrutiny as of late, with two officers convicted of grievous felonies in recent months. Calls for the removal of the Chief of Police have been many and fevered. The Mayor has been contacted and the press have been told that there will be a public announcement in the next few days.

Despite the conviction, this reporter’s faith in the police is not restored. There are still far too many unanswered questions surrounding the police force, and the Chief of Police in specific. During his short tenure in the position he has allowed his officers to commit worse crimes than a far majority of the criminals in the city! Add in the fact that in the most recent case one of the new Supernaturals was involved as the perpetrator, it shows the cities inability to adapt to the changing times we find ourselves in.
